The 2008 New England Women’s Leadership Awards (NEWLA) held on May 29^th at the World Trade Center were a tremendous success! 

The event raised over $285,000 for The Club, which helps to provide the boys and girls of Dorchester with a safe alternative to the streets 6 days a week, 52 weeks a year.  Serving more than 4,000 children annually, The Club offers provides a place to learn, explore talents and make friends though 100 enriching programs and services.  The money raised at NEWLA directly benefits these programs and helps to make a difference in the lives of thousands of children

For 16 years the New England Women’s Leadership Awards have celebrated women who have not only risen to positions of respect and influence but have also found ways to give back to their communities. Our honorees inspire young girls to find the path that will lead them to their own dreams and successes; they are women who exemplify the courage, dedication, and vision it takes to be true leaders.  By sharing their challenges and leading by example, the honorees teach young girls the importance of determination, compassion, and self-confidence

 Each honoree was presented their award by an accomplished member of the Club as a way to recognize these young girls’ success, but also to motivate them to continue to pursue their hopes and dreams.
